A Peep Into A Blockchain Transaction, Visually

Often time, when you first read about the Blockchain Technology, the gurus will tell you that it's a distributed and transparent (or open) ledger whereby everyone can view the details of the transaction (pseudonymously).

So, what would Blockchain users expected to see in the open/public blockchain transaction? This is the topic that I am about to share, keep reading.

Of course, what I am about to show you is the human readable version and not the actaul scripts/codes woven within the blockchain. I am using one of my recent real transaction (via my Litecoin wallet in Coinbase, Coinbase is one of the most reputable exchange around).

I am using BlockCypher to perform the query and following is what it is looks like:

1. Enter the "Wallet Address" or "Transaction Hash" and click "search":
Note:
a. "Wallet Address" and "Transaction Hash" are 2 long-string of data sets that you will see when completed a blockchain transaction. It is advisable that you copy and paste these data set from source (instead of enter manually) to avoid typo.
b. BlockCypher allow search on Bitcoin, LiteCoin, DogeCoin and Dash at the moment.
c. For Ethereum, which is on different Blockchain, you can use EtherScan to search.

2. Voila! Here is the transaction details you can see:
Note : see screenshots below
a. Amount Transacted (in this case, it's 0.39927521 LTC [Litecoin], which is equivalent to around USD 127 at that time)
b. Fees (in this case, it's 0.00036239 LTC, which is equivalent to around USD 0.11)
c. Transaction Date (indicated as "6 days ago")
d. Status (indicated as "6+" confirmation, which means completed successfully)
e. Size of the transaction (usually quite small for pure cryptocurrency exchange, but this piece of information might be meaningless to the user)
f. Sender ("Input Consumed")
g. Receiver(s) ("Output Created")

That's it! Your simple guide of a blockchain transaction, visually.

Cheers!
